I am based in Annan, Ontario. With expressive brushstrokes, I aim to capture the beauty of nature via ink on rice paper or silk and using acrylic on canvas. An avid gardener and collector of peony and hosta species, these along with plant species native to Grey Bruce, local landscapes are among my favorite painting subjects.
We host an annual open hose to the garden oasis, “Gingko Footprints”, that my husband and I have been cultivating for over ten years.
I first delved into Ink Washing (Chinese brush painting) in 2009. I work in the two primary styles of traditional brushwork, Freehand (Xieyi), which is loose and expressive and the Meticulous (Gongbi) style, which is highly detailed. While Chinese brush painting has been a mainstay in my life and is central to my aesthetic, I have also delved into acrylics under the guidance of noted local instructor in recently years.
I am a permanent member of the Owen Sound Artists Co-op , Southampton Arts and continue to exhibit my works in other venues across Grey Bruce, sharing my passion for art and gardening with the community. I was honored to be chosen as the November 2021 Community Artist Spotlight at Tom Thomson Art Gallery.
In addition to the above venues, you can find my pieces at my Annan Studio during our garden events,
